Our History at a Glance

West Park Rehabilitation Center, Skilled Nursing & Assisted Living joins the MacIntosh Company.

The MacIntosh Company breaks ground in Canal Winchester, Ohio, for the company's 7th central Ohio care community, scheduled to open in the fall of 2017.

The MacIntosh Company was incorporated in 1984 by founder, Bob Murtha, an entrepreneur within the health care field. Mr. Murtha named the company MacIntosh after his grandfather Neil MacIntosh. The company was founded on the principles of providing high quality healthcare in nice physical plants.

Pickaway Manor was the first center under the MacIntosh Company name with Monterey Rehabilitation Center, Skilled Nursing & Memory Care and Whetstone Gardens and Care Center being added soon after. An old church on Russell Street served as corporate office space for the team of 4 that provided support to the 3 centers. In 1996, 133 beds were purchased and ground was soon broken for two new properties. Mill Run Gardens and Care Center was opened in June of 1997 and New Albany Gardens and Care Center following soon after, opened in February 1998.

The MacIntosh Company now consisted of 5 care communities. As the company grew, more space was needed for corporate support and the Smith Brothers building became the new address of the corporate office. In 1991 Amity Home Care was added to the company, expanding care services into patient’s homes. Amity was chosen for its meaning “friendship”. In 1994 MacIntosh Rehab was established, allowing both the skilled centers and Amity Home Care to provide rehabilitation services utilizing their own therapists verses a contract service.

Maura Miller, holding the position of VP of Operations became the president of the company in 1996 and gained the CEO title in 2003. On tax day, 2008 The MacIntosh Company Corporate office moved to its current Hilliard address allowing space for the 30 corporate employees to provide support to the MacIntosh Centers and Home Health Care Agency. In February of 2016, Curt Anderson was named President of The MacIntosh Company.  To this day, the founding principles can still be seen and felt amongst all aspects of the MacIntosh healthcare continuum.
